Chapter 57 - Return to Ashroot
Atlas’s decision brought a wave of relief and renewed fire across the ranks. A breath exhaled as one, followed by a crackling surge of energy. Grins broke out. Weapons were gripped tighter.
Above, the islands began to shift, Gacha Haven rising steadily, while Soren’s island sank lower, like a challenge being accepted. The battlefield itself seemed to acknowledge the turn.
Morganna’s lips tugged into a slight, knowing smile.
Atlas raised his hand high. "The battle isn’t over! Our fight isn’t finished! End this, and make them regret ever underestimating us!"
A roar of approval burst from his troops.
As the islands locked into place, a new stretch of ground formed between them. The final stage laid bare for the endgame.
Atlas took a steady breath, tightening his grip around his spear. No hesitation now. The decision was made. No matter how this ended, they would see it through.
To the very end.
"Edrik, prepare the troops!" Atlas commanded.
Edrik bowed and turned at once, rushing to the rear where he began rearranging their forces. He mirrored Soren’s earlier tactics, preparing for a strike from several angles.
Before Atlas, a portal began to shimmer, slowly widening. A swirling gate to the next battlefield.
