Chapter 50 - Immutable Discipline
Atlas had gathered everyone in the clearing to reorganize the squads under new leadership. At the front stood Zara, Kaida, Garen, and Ronan with their respective troops lined up behind them. Facing them were Atlas and his elite subordinates: Edrik, Karian, Lyrassa... and Milo, standing a little stiffly but trying his best to look composed.
Now that he had enough elite subordinates, Atlas was finally free to divide the existing four teams more effectively under their own supervisors. He hadn’t decided to bring Mira into the mix just yet. She already had her own small force of workers, unofficially dubbed "Team Garden," who dutifully followed her whims, most of which involved flowers and landscaping.
"Alright, today I’ll be assigning each team a new supervisor," Atlas announced clearly. "With four supervisors now, we can focus more effectively on your training."
There was a collective gulp from the crowd. A nervous tension swept through the troops. Eyes flicked from Milo to Lyrassa, some praying not to end up under one, others hoping they’d be lucky enough to train under the other.
"Lyrassa will lead the team..." Atlas began.
Before he could even finish the sentence, all four team leads, and a few of the braver soldiers, immediately shot their hands into the air, some looking utterly desperate.
"...working with Kaida," Atlas finished.
Kaida threw her head back in a laugh, completely delighted. "Ahahahaha! Finally! Being with Edrik was so boring. He’s way too stiff."
"Shut up, Kaida," Edrik muttered.
Team Blaze, Kaida’s squad, looked visibly relieved, grinning at each other like they’d just dodged a spear. The other teams, meanwhile, remained tense, uncertain what fate Atlas would hand them next.
"Milo will lead..." Atlas continued.
