Chapter 1338 - 519: No More Pretending, I’m Laying My Cards on the Table (Part 2)
The defense minister of the Free Federation spoke sternly:
"We fully respect all the interests of your country, which is why we are here, to support your country."
"But now, we must face reality, Commander Yang Ming, we have to do two things: first, change the form of the war, and second, give our domestic citizens a more comprehensive reason to justify protecting the Wind Alliance."
Duoduo Moduo placed both hands on the table, and though he remained silent, he also fixed his gaze on Yang Ming.
Yang Ming frowned and said: "Change the form of war? I don't quite understand."
"Direct confrontation with the Levi Fleet presents little chance of victory, even if we can achieve deeper cooperation, it is still very difficult to directly confront the Levi Fleet."
The defense minister of the Free Federation quickly responded:
"I assume you also have intelligence regarding the Levi Fleet; these ships contain no soldiers, a terrifying fact that no one dares to expose."
"How can we defeat such a fleet?"
"Even if we have stored old warships, our soldiers need training; it's not possible to send ordinary people to operate the ships effectively."
"But based on the precise intelligence we've obtained, I can state directly... the Levi Fleet can, and at crucial moments, will seize the Empire's conventional fleets and assimilate them."
Yang Ming's posture slightly leaned back.
Duoduo Moduo verified: "I can confirm this intelligence. I actually want to ask... has the Wind Alliance fully considered how to deal with the Levi Fleet when formulating their counterattack plan against the Empire?"
Yang Ming did not answer but simply looked down in deep thought.
The high-ranking officials behind him from the Wind Alliance had complex expressions on their faces.
The defense minister of the Free Federation said: "The so-called change in the form of war means that we need to use strategic depth to exchange for combat strength, to protect our current viable forces and ensure our courage in the final showdown with the Sherman Empire."
Yang Ming still did not speak.
But someone behind him couldn't hold back any longer.
Emilia rose from the sofa, walked behind Yang Ming, and appeared at the edge of the sand table.
She coldly said: "Is your country's intention to have us abandon this war, turning our fleet into a fleeing fleet?"
"This is just a thought," the defense minister of the Free Federation quickly replied, "if we can directly confront the Sherman Empire, that would be the best, and excuse my straightforwardness, if we deploy more reinforcements, the battlefield command should belong to both our parties."
Duoduo Moduo suddenly said: "The command of the battlefield is actually not very important."
Emilia spoke with a blank face:
"Does this mean...
"Your country is strategically coercing us, if we want more support from your country to fight against the Sherman Empire, we must follow your commands and meet your conditions?"
"Your country is on the weaker side."
The defense minister of the Free Federation did not conceal anymore:
"We are not taking advantage of the situation; we need a compelling reason to convince our citizens, allowing us to mobilize nearly all our combat forces to protect the Wind Alliance which does not have a direct connection to us, and we must ensure that we have sufficient and advantageous command rights."
Emilia asked: "Putting those matters aside, specifically, what is the reason your country wants? Our autonomous Planet Cannon and drone swarm?"
"That's just part of it."
"Could you kindly tell me how your country's actions differ from those of the Sherman Empire?"
"We belong to a free democratic camp," stated the defense minister of the Free Federation sternly, "Miss Emilia, interstellar politics don't permit idealism; we must consider the interests of our regime."
Emilia wasn't angry; she was deep in thought.
As the leader of the Wind Alliance, her emotional reaction was meaningless; she needed to come up with a solution...
Yang Ming's voice suddenly emerged:
"If you don't want to fight, then leave."
People around showed expressions of disbelief, and Emilia also looked at Yang Ming in stunned amazement.
At this critical juncture, even if the Free Federation indeed overstepped, this combat power should be essential to the Wind Alliance...
Yang Ming spoke calmly:
"During the first war, your country's support was sluggish; in the second war, your country was always on the edge, how's that, fighting guerrilla on the main front? Your so-called support, apart from making us look intimidating, what else is it good for? At the very least, the Guel Alliance is genuinely participating in battle, what about you? Just a political show?"
"Commander Yang Ming!"
"Shut up, I'm speaking now."
Yang Ming's expression was predatory:
"Feel insulted by me?"
"Is it my fault you've performed poorly and felt insulted?"
"The Wind Alliance formed deep cooperative ties solely with the Guel Alliance, a decision made after evaluating the comprehensive power of the Sherman Empire."
"Since you want to be the big brother of the free camp, then show some responsibility as big brothers."
"Till now, none of your core elite fleets have moved; your coalition of fleets under the control of dozens of regimes is far away, have they completed their assembly?"
"You desire to engage in this battle with the Empire, to overthrow this massive force bearing down upon you whilst the Empire is weak, correct?"
"Each country has its own unique situation; witnessing the Empire's three expeditions against the New Federation, severe panic has emerged domestically in your Free Federation; you want to stabilize the economy and ensure continued development, the pressure from the Empire must be opposed."
