Entangled with An Evil Lord

Yun Yanli stood his ground and had his arm tightly around Kun Xueyi’s waist. "I do not care what happened over there. The wedding has to go on."

All of a sudden, he raised his hand to release a display of fireworks in the sky. "Everyone stay calm! Stay where you are and don’t move. If you move a little, you will get yourself killed!" The young palace master could be heard making the announcement. "The governor has something to say."

Her words were effective in keeping everyone still. Moreover, all the secret guards in different parts of the square were told to keep the scene orderly. The chaos subsided in a brief moment, and the crowd turned their attention to the jade statue again that was still engulfed in flames.

Nothing seemed to have changed, however. The only noticeable difference was the increase in the number of guards equipped with shimmering armors that were fitted on their well-toned bodies. They stood in lines, surrounding both stages with the tightest security. No one could get close to the stage.

Obviously, Yun Yanli had come prepared. Not even a minute had passed before the order was restored in the entire Zhengde Square. Yun Yanli, whose arm was still clinging onto Kun Xueyi, swept his eyes across the people and said smilingly, "Do not panic. The residence was old and out of date. I have always wanted to destroy and rebuild it. Today is my wedding day, so I have to give my wife a new place to call home. Therefore, it was I who called for the explosion. Old things have to go to make space for new beginnings."

The crowd could only gaze at one another in astonishment. They never thought that the governor would blow up his own place. They still found it quite hard to believe that he would do so himself.

"You have blown up your own residence because of a wedding. What news, governor!" Kun Xueyi mocked him.
