Entangled with An Evil Lord

Gu Xijiu had managed to escape from Leguo City reasonably easily because the young palace master had to deal with the chaos that she left behind. Guardian Hua had the carriage ready, so they quickly embarked on their secret journey back to the Devil Kingdom.

Leguo City was tens of thousands of miles away from the Devil Kingdom. Furthermore, it was safe to assume that Yun Yanli had set up many obstacles along the way, so Gu Xijiu had to keep a lookout the entire journey.

To keep control over all the cities, Yun Yanli had some of his men traveling from city to city to inform one another about the latest affairs. The men also collected information to disseminate back to their leader. Therefore, Gu Xijiu needed to think out of the box to keep her team under the radar.

She specifically asked Guardian Hua to get her a carriage that looked similar to what the young palace master’s men would use. In the end, they decided to steal one of the wagons that belonged to the young palace master. Gu Xijiu had to kill the men to seize the vehicle as a safety precaution. Guardian Hua took the disguise of one of the men that were dead, while Guardian Jin pretended to be the coachman. As a precautionary measure, Gu Xijiu took the form of a male attendant. As for Di Fuyi, he was still a jade statue that sat quietly in the carriage.

Along the way, they had encountered several stops but were able to pass the security checks easily due to their perfect disguises. Guardian Hua had all the necessary travel permits with him and knew exactly where the checkpoints would be and when the people would change shifts. Hence, none of the inspections managed to pick up anything suspicious.

The entire time, the two guardians were unaware that the jade statue was actually Di Fuyi. What Gu Xijiu told them was that the Devil King had requested for the jade statue to be transported safely back to the Devil Kingdom. It was the most critical task, and failure was not an option. Both men agreed without further questions.
