"Hey, hun!" a man’s voice called out from the sitting room.
"Hey..." Clara replied, her voice laced with fake cheer, the frustration barely hidden—clearly annoyed he’d come home at the worst possible time.
"You’re still in your work uniform? Aren’t you tired?" the man asked, his tone casual.
"Not really. How’d it go with your other wives today? You came back earlier than I expected," she said, her words coated with passive-aggressive sweetness.
He sighed. "Well... turns out the Duke stole Vanessa away from me."
Clara let out a dry chuckle. "That’s what you A-rank guys are good at, huh? Passing women around, sleeping with whoever you want, knowing we’re stuck being loyal since no woman would dare cheat on you with a lower ranked man."
The man chuckled. "No. It’s not like that..."
I was crouched behind the kitchen counter, listening in. I peeked just enough to get a look at him. I didn’t recognize his face—definitely hadn’t seen him around Eldoria before—but yeah, he looked like the confident built type who was annoyingly in the way of my fun.
He reached over, cupping Clara’s cheek and pulling her in for a kiss.
My brow twitched. This asshole had no idea he’d interrupted a damn good time.
After a few seconds, Clara gently pulled away. "Go lie down in the bedroom. I’ll whip something up for you," she offered sweetly—too sweetly.
