A thunderous smack echoed through the church, leaving everyone in stunned silence. Jaws dropped, and I quickly turned my head to see what was happening.
The Priestess had just slapped Liloth Alvado!
Were Priestesses even allowed to resort to violence?
"How dare you look down on the Divine Goddess?" Seraphina’s voice was sharp as a blade. "How dare you assume I’m under some kind of spell? Do you think the Divine Blessing I received from our goddess Vireth is so weak that I could fall under the influence of a mere man? A teenage boy, no less?"
"I—I... I assumed—" Liloth stammered, struggling to find her words.
Seraphina’s face was contorted with an anger I had never seen on her before. She had always been gentle, soft-spoken—a model Priestess. But now, I was seeing another side of her.
Ivy instantly released her grip on me and bowed deeply. "We’re sorry, Priestess. Please, forgive us."
"Tch!" Seraphina turned to the gathered crowd with a sharp gaze. "I don’t know what’s been happening here or why you’re all attacking this boy, but if any of you so much as lift a finger against him, consider yourselves my enemies."
The female knights murmured among themselves before, one by one, they bowed in submission—except for that bastard nun.
"Priestess," I spoke up, pointing at the nun. "She’s the real culprit. She’s working with the Revolutionaries."
