Li Si and Leng Mochen handled all the arrangements and boarded the flight to Beijing on Christmas Eve.
To avoid the bittersweet farewell scene, Li Si declined Bai Shasha and Jiang Fan’s offer to see her off, accompanying Leng Mochen onto the plane headed for Beijing.
In the first-class cabin, Li Si stared blankly out the plane window, lost in thought. Leng Mochen gently stroked her silky hair, "What’s on your mind?"
Li Si turned her head, her face tinged with sorrow, "I’m wondering about what’s to come. All the unfamiliarity ahead—will I regret this decision?"
"You won’t regret it. You’ve got me," Leng Mochen held her tightly in his arms. "Get some sleep. I’ll wake you up when we arrive."
Li Si obeyed and closed her eyes, leaning against his warm shoulder. After a while, her chaotic thoughts faded, and she unexpectedly fell asleep.
Leng Mochen gazed tenderly at her sleeping face. She really seemed exhausted—the slight parting of her lips made her sleep appear sweet and peaceful, absolutely adorable in his eyes. Several attempts by flight attendants to chat with him were met with his cold dismissal.
They arrived safely at their destination. Having managed a restful nap, Li Si felt noticeably brighter.
Leng Mochen pushed a suitcase while she carried a small black backpack. Seeing Mrs. Leng and Tian Yaruo standing a short distance away, Li Si felt a sudden pang of discomfort. Whose side would she join? And who was the stylish short-haired girl standing behind them?
"Mochen! Li Si! Over here! How was the trip? Li Si, let me introduce you. This is Mochen’s younger sister, Leng Ning—you two seem to be the same age!" Mrs. Leng greeted them enthusiastically before making introductions.
