Chapter 78 - 75 Saw Nothing
Leng Mochen arrived quickly, and he immediately spotted Li Si trembling and frozen under the eaves of a store. His temper flared up sharply, "Are you stupid? Why didn’t you wait for me inside?" He said as he got out of the car, swiftly pushing Li Si into the passenger seat.
Leng Mochen circled around to the driver’s seat, cranked up the heater, and took out a large towel to wipe the rainwater off Li Si.
"What am I supposed to say to you? Why were you foolishly standing outside? What if you catch a cold?" His anger made his voice loud, but Li Si only listened meekly, like a little kitten.
After a while, she whispered softly, "I was afraid that if I went inside to shelter from the rain, you wouldn’t be able to find me!"
"You, girl, what’s really going on?" Leng Mochen wrapped her in the large towel, tried to hold her close to share his warmth, and felt some pain in his heart seeing her looking so pitiful—the two swollen, red eyes especially betrayed that she’d been crying.
"Brother Leng, can we go to your place first? I’m so cold!" Li Si leaned into Leng Mochen’s embrace. Though the faint masculine scent on him brought her comfort, the chill in her body still surged intermittently.
"Achoo!" "Achoo!" Before she finished speaking, she sneezed twice in rapid succession. Leng Mochen quickly turned the steering wheel and drove toward his house.
On the way there, Li Si couldn’t stop sneezing. At first, she managed to respond with some "mmhm" or "yeah" to his attempts at conversation, but later, she closed her eyes, leaned her head against the seat, and fell silent. Slowly, her complexion started to turn unnaturally red.
Once they arrived, Leng Mochen parked the car, thinking she had fallen asleep. He gently carried her upstairs to place her on the large bed on the second floor.
Li Si had stayed in this room before and left behind a few changes of clothes. Leng Mochen found them in the wardrobe, then hesitated. If he didn’t change her wet clothes, she would surely feel uncomfortable; but if he did, he’d inevitably see her body—wouldn’t that mean taking advantage of her?
