Strongest Necromancer System

Chapter 248: A Haunting Realization

"The Enforcers are sending a few commanders to come and help out. Agiel is in Boston handling a case, but she’ll head over as soon as she’s done, and Luthor should be here soon."

Liam released a sigh of relief once he heard that there were commanders coming to help them. The commanders were all known to be powerful superhumans. There wasn’t a single one that wasn’t in the S rank already, and having just one S Rank superhuman in their ranks would change the entire tide of the battle. Liam was sure that Katarina would provide support to the superhumans in her guild from wherever she was, so that meant they just had to work hard to close this Gate with the people they had on hand.

"It’s forming!"

A voice shouted from the side, and everyone on the rooftop looked up to see that the large Yellow Gate had finally begun to enter the final stages of its formation. The Gate formed a strong yellow outline in the sky before the space in the center began to swirl with a yellow wave. A breeze blew across the rooftop, and Liam put his hand up to his face as he felt the Gate finally beginning its suction stage as it fully formed in the sky. The winds grew harsher and developed into a typhoon as the Gate tried to suck in anything close by and force them inside, but thankfully Liam and the other superhumans were far enough away that they were only feeling a slight breeze from the suction.

Liam released a tired sigh as the Gate finally formed, and he seemed to finally accept the reality of the situation they were in. This Yellow Gate was a monster capable of eradicating their entire continent with ease, and there was no doubt that a lot of people were going to die while attempting to close it. Liam shook his head and turned away to begin walking towards Florence again! It was pointless to start worrying about what was inside the gate when they hadn’t even gone in yet. They still had some time, so they were going to use that time to make sure the superhumans were prepared! The Yellow Gate had only just formed, so they didn’t have to worry about it breaking and releasing any monsters for now!

Florence was also looking up at the Gate in awe, and she looked down when she saw Liam heading for her. Liam saw the first sign of fear flashing through Florence’s eyes, but she forced her fear down as she frowned at him and asked him what he wanted. Liam immediately got to the point.

"We need to come up with a proper attack plan. There are more guilds here than I anticipated, so if we send them in, they won’t know what to do since there’s no apparent leader. There are two S Rank Commanders coming soon, so we should wait and send them in as two groups. Each group will go with one of the Commanders. One group will take care of the monsters around the Gate and the other group will make their way straight for the Gate Boss."

Florence’s frown deepened for a moment as she scrutinized that plan and tried to find any flaws in it. It was obvious that Florence didn’t like Liam and the feeling was mutual between them, but Liam knew that Florence was a smart woman, so if there were any flaws in his plans, then she would be able to pick them apart and correct him without mixing words!

But after waiting for a few seconds, Florence finally sighed when she realized that there were no better plans at that moment. Liam was right about there not being a clear leader, and it would be better for them to send in two groups so they could be sure that even if one group failed, then the other group would be able to either retreat or succeed. Florence was about to say this to Liam, but she was cut off abruptly as someone else spoke from the side in a low, terrified voice.

"The wind stopped..."

It was just three words that the woman spoke, and on any other day, those three words wouldn’t have had any meaning at all to the people there. But at that moment, every single superhuman felt an intense fear pass through their hearts when they heard her speak! The wind created by the Gate suction was an indication that the Gate was still actively working to draw people in. It was a sort of assurance that they wouldn’t have to worry about it for at least a few hours since the monsters couldn’t get out of the Gate. But there was only one reason why that wind would completely stop the way it just did. The Gate was about to break!
