Chapter 164: A Mad Scramble
Riyala slashed her hand across the air and sent out a blade of fire, and the second assassin put his hand forward and revealed an eyeball in the middle of his palm which quickly absorbed the flames and all the mana that came with it!
Riyala’s eyes widened in shock!
’He’s from Rewun! They’re the only world I know that can absorb mana like that! And the other man fell into the shadows? The teacher told me that one of the Primordial Races could control the shadows! But he isn’t a Primordial! Wait... They aren’t primordials but I think I’ve heard about them before! They’re the phantoms! The assassins that sell their services for money! This is my fault. They’re here for me!’
WOOSH!
An arrow of wind suddenly flew past Riyala and slammed into a figure on her left side, and Riyala realized in shock that she had dozed out for a moment and had almost been attacked! She turned to Gina and saw Gina holding a magic staff while narrowing her eyes in concentration!
"Focus, Riyala! They can move through the shadows!"
Gina spoke loudly but Riyala couldn’t understand a word that she said! Riyala felt a surge of anguish rising from her heart as she saw the injuries on Gina’s arm and the tears in her clothes! This was all her fault! If she hadn’t been here then they wouldn’t have attacked! She could never do anything but hurt those around her!
"Riyala!"
Gina shouted in anger when she saw Riyala’s flames starting to die down and Riyala immediately gained her senses back as she saw that one of the assassins was running toward her! Another arrow of wind headed for the assassin and they had to dodge out of the way to avoid it! Riyala immediately strengthened her resolve as she reignited her fire and made it surge back to life! The assassins all retreated when the fire increased in intensity and Gina wasted no time as she sent out a blast of wind to make them retreat even further!
