Chapter 89: It Should Be A Crime

The fact that Gina was being considered for the vice-captain role meant there was a chance she would get it too! This could not only increase the amount of time she goes into Gates, but it would also increase her salary and benefits within the guild! Gina’s happiness was obvious, and Jane smiled at this, but what Jane said next made Gina’s smile dim. "We are still considering you, but we have also been looking into our recent earnings and the guild has really been struggling financially. With the recent increase in the number of Gates, the SMD will likely start to give more Red Gate contracts to the lower guilds, but our guild doesn’t have much chance of beating the other C Rank guilds since our leader is only a high-level C Rank. The guilds with B Rank leaders are more likely to get contracts over ours. So we were talking and we remembered that a friend of yours recently got an awakening. I think his name was Jason. I know this might come off as presumptuous, but we were wondering if you wouldn’t mind asking him to join our guild."

As Jane spoke, Gina’s smile faded more and more until it was barely straining on her face. She was looking at Jane with a look of slight confusion, and it wasn’t long before the look turned to exasperation. Gina always knew that this conversation would happen. It was impossible for the guild to have seen what happened with Jason and not bring it up.

Gina never hid her relationship with Jason in the past. Almost every woman in the guild knew that Gina had a male friend she spoke about all the time, and the males knew better than to ask Gina out because she would always turn them down.

So once Jason awakened, Gina knew the guild would try to make her talk to him about joining. That was the reason why Gina brought it up earlier with Jason. She wanted to know Jason’s stance on things before anything else, and she wanted to make sure she knew what to say to her superiors whenever they asked.

But Gina wasn’t disappointed by the fact that they asked her to invite Jason over. Instead, Gina was disappointed in the fact that they were trying to use her promotion as some sort of chain to tie Jason to this guild. What they were doing now was nothing short of emotional manipulation. They were trying to make Gina consider bringing Jason into the guild just so that she could get a promotion.

At that moment, Gina felt an incredible amount of anger filling her heart for the entire guild! If they had asked her to talk to Jason without using her promotion as a chain, then she wouldn’t have minded at all, and everything would have been okay! But she hated anyone trying to use her to get to Jason! It made her sick!

Gina gave Jane a hard stare and spoke in a no-nonsense tone.

"Sorry ma’am, but Jason isn’t interested in joining any guilds right now." Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on NovᴇlFɪre.ɴet
