Chapter 142: Kill Or Die
Lilia’s eyes widened.
"K..kill my husband?"
Then, the lady spoke quietly. "Please, do it before it’s too late."
Lilia responded. "You said I’m dead, right? So, how do you expect me to return to the land of the living?"
The woman spoke again, her voice low. "I can take you there. But my powers are limited. You’ll only have thirty minutes. Spend your time wisely and kill him.
The woman’s hair shimmered, almost silky, though she appeared older. "What does this benefit you?" Lilia asked.
"It doesn’t just benefit me, my dear," the lady replied. "It benefits you as well. You will live."
Lilia shook her head. "I can’t."
The woman began to chant, her words reverberating in the air. She extended her hand, and from her palm, a transparent knife appeared. She spoke again, her tone insistent. "Here, take it. Take it. It can only be seen by you. My dear, only you can see it. You have thirty minutes to stab him. If you don’t, you are the one dying instead. Either you die, or he dies—for one of you to live. If you agree, you will go to the land of the living. If you don’t, you won’t."
Lilia then spoke, staring at the knife in her hand. "He’s a vampire. It won’t work."
"Yes," the lady answered, "that’s why it’s like this." The knife gleamed in the darkness, its form resembling a crystal—no handle, just like a diamond, but slightly sharper and stone-like in texture.
