Chapter 99: Teeth
To his surprise, Lilia giggled again before suddenly pulling away. He sat on the bed, running a hand through his hair, stunned by the way her actions made him feel. He was speechless. What was wrong with this wife of his?
He ran his hands through his hair again, sighing deeply. He was at a loss for words, unsure of what to do.
Then she spoke.
"That’s your punishment—the punishment for leaving my question unanswered, for forgetting that your wife was on medication, for ignoring the clear instructions from your personal doctor to check on me when I take my drugs. And worst of all, you didn’t even ask how I was when you arrived. So yes, my dear husband, this is your punishment."
Zethan was still silent as he stared at her.
He was dumbfounded. Not just because of what she had said, but because of the giggle—after all of that. And this punishment... it was agonizing. It baffled him how much he was affected by what she’d done.
Then, as if cold water had been poured over his body, realization struck him. He must have really hurt her.
Before he even realized it, the words slipped out.
"I’m sorry," he murmured.
Lilia hadn’t expected that. She knew Zethan well. She sat up abruptly, her heart pounding. Did she hear right? Did this proud husband of hers just apologize?
"I apologize, my wife," he added, his voice quieter this time.
