Chapter 152: A chain reaction
Elliot’s eyes widened for a moment, but then he smiled.
"Yes, that’s me."
"So what you want to do here is a test, to find out if it’s possible to succeed?" she asked.
He nodded.
"Some things need to be tested ahead of time. Here, I have the advantage that the Misfits are already opposing the local controller, so things may go better. But just because they get better doesn’t mean the chance is 100%. That’s why I have to see it and prepare beforehand, since that advantage is not there in Loen."
"Hmm." She nodded. Somehow, she looked interested in Elliot’s plots. They looked interesting and might even contain mysteries, like this time, that little mystery about who that hidden Loen person was.
"What if it goes exceedingly well?" she asked.
He understood the question. When something goes exceedingly well, it is not always because it is the best option. Sometimes it’s simply because it came at the right time and he was in the right place all the pieces.
Did he succeed because his plan was right or because he was simply in the right place at the right time? That was the dilemma when things went too well.
It’s impossible to understand what’s wrong with what you’re doing, because you don’t have any information about things that could go wrong. All you know is that it went right.
But Elliot cared little.
"If everything goes right, then I’ll get my family’s bodies back and they’ll be back at peace in a better place. Although I’m using this to find out if I’m doing well in Loen, the mission’s main focus this time is to get them back. The rest is simply curiosity."
