Chapter 66: At death’s door
For a diluted poison, its potency was astonishing. It destroyed the skin, flesh, and everything in its path until it reached the bone, where it finally stopped. But the damage was already done.
Both legs had lost part of their flesh. Not only was the pain terrible, but the potions they had couldn’t heal such damage in a short time. The most they could do was stop the bleeding.
This caused both of Elliot’s legs to lose all mobility, as some of the connections between his feet and the upper part of his legs were suddenly severed.
A second later, he rolled on the ground, forcing Jenna to let go of him to avoid falling on top of him and causing him more harm.
His mind was finally disturbed.
Many questions came to him, and the questions in his mind prevented him from moving again.
He was exhausted, not only was his body at its limit, but his mind had been under terrifying stress for over an hour, which made it feel like several hours or even days of continuous struggle.
’Ah... Why did it take me so long to awaken?’ His exhausted mind was filled with complaints, murmurs, and endless unanswered questions.
It was his fault for taking so long to awaken, that he was now in this situation. If he had awakened at least two years ago, wouldn’t he be immensely strong right now?
’Did I lack conviction? Did I need to want it more? Why was I born with such low talent?’
He had recently realized that his talent was mediocre when he started learning the Path of the Sword with Jenna. His level was so low that he struggled to get past the first level.
