Chapter 25: The Forest of Beasts (2)
The one-eyed beast thrust the spears it held in both hands toward me.
Its trajectory was swift, but not impossible to deflect.
The crimson spear shot forward in a straight line but suddenly twisted to the right.
I twisted my arm sharply and struck it head-on with my sword.
Clang!
The creature’s arm, along with the spear, was sent soaring upward.
An opening.
I swung my greatsword, Carnavalt, horizontally.
The blade, rushing toward the one-eyed creature’s waist, tore through its flesh with a sickening sound.
But I couldn’t cleave it in half in a single stroke.
I felt no disappointment—this was expected. I had never anticipated slicing it cleanly in one go.
I closed in from the left and drove the Bloodstained Dagger into its shoulder.
