Chapter 994: Volume 32 Dark Clouds Envelop - 12 Strangulation
You can never imagine what it looks like when over ten thousand robust men, each towering over two meters tall, run desperately on the ground. If you must describe it using a relatively accurate phrase, it can only be said to be like a herd of mad bison furiously charging across the prairie in one direction—and this charge lasted for more than an hour.
The pervasive yellow dust in the sky, even to the always apprehensive Yale, signaled that something was amiss, but he never anticipated that his opponent would resort to such a method to achieve their goal. The battle had reached a fever pitch, and the Homer Knight Order was barely holding on, but the harassment from the sky proved to be a constant headache to Yale.
Those damned Thunder Peng Knights continued to cause trouble. He had originally thought that they were the only support of the Homer Knight Order, but the appearance of more than a dozen Earthwalking Dragons suddenly emerging from the valley seriously frightened the steeds of the Attica Knights, and even the Mundell warhorses under the cavalry were affected to a certain extent. Thankfully, the intensity of the battle made all of this seem insignificant.
The addition of two unexpected factors slowed down the collapse of the Homer Knight Order’s defense line. That fellow Lecler took the opportunity to tighten the defense and abandon some critical positions, which worsened their situation, yet it also gave them a moment to catch their breath. Yale did not believe that by stubbornly resisting, they would end up with any favorable outcome. He had even prepared for the possibility of the enemy’s surrender.
But the rolling yellow dust in the distance made him realize that the problem might not be that simple. Although he was still unclear about what the yellow dust signified, he could not believe that his scouts and the intelligence system would fail to discern whether the opponent had cavalry forces. If that were the case, then Attica would have been claiming unwarranted uniqueness in the Northern Alliance.
When groups of sweaty Barbarian Berserkers formed small square formations and flaunted their well-developed muscles in front of the Attican, when snarling Half-Beastmen proudly strode forward with their bronze-skinned chests out, Yale’s thought process nearly stalled. What was going on? Where did these barbarians and Half-Beastmen come from? They were supposed to be at least ten miles away, which meant they should have taken more than an hour to appear on the Battlefield. Yet here they were, baring their teeth and claws right before him?
While Yale’s thought process came to a halt, Baoling did not give the enemy any chance to reflect. Knowing full well that the Half-Beastmen and barbarians were also extremely exhausted, Baoling could not afford to let them rest for even a second. The Homer Knight Order had already suffered tremendous losses, and continuing to fight was the extent of their capability. Perhaps with just a bit more pressure, the Homer Knights would collapse, and the Half-Beastmen and barbarians could not afford to rest either. Once their momentum subsided, it would take hours to build it back up.
