The Vastness of Magical Destiny

Chapter 906: Volume 29, Distant Sword Qi, - 1: Sky Wolf

"Short-sighted fool!" Christine was furious, her eyes blazing as she stared at a somewhat embarrassed Carter Wolfe, with cheeks flushed crimson from her agitation, and though her ample chest was covered by fur, the signs of tumultuous emotions were unmistakable, "Carter, you’ve disappointed me greatly. Do you not realize what your actions will lead to?"

Carter scanned his generals standing behind him with some irritation; they hung their heads like silent cicadas, feigning pitiful expressions. But Carter was sure that these bastards were actually overjoyed inside. Even he had been stirred by such a significant gain, and since it hadn’t occurred within the kingdom’s control, it was nothing out of the ordinary for the Beastmen—it wasn’t something to make such a fuss about, was it?

"Look here, Christina, what’s done is done. I’ll punish them later. I think you need not fret over it so much," said Carter, who understood Christina’s temperament. This time, Christina seemed truly enraged, storming into his tent and lashing out in front of all the generals. Even he found it hard to bear. After all, he was still a tribe leader; she had given him no face at all.

"Fret over it? Carter, do you understand what the Wolf Clan and the Deer Tribe are doing now? Do you think you can hide your deeds from Bill and Mouni? From Dashler? Perhaps they’re just waiting for you to act this way, giving them an excuse to do the same," Christina grew even angrier. How could Carter, normally so astute, become so foolish today? Not understanding the reasoning behind it at all?

"Hmph, what if Bill and Mouni know? They can do whatever they please! Dashler," Carter snorted, "he has no right to meddle in the affairs of the Wolf Clan. I will explain things to Shami," Carter’s face darkened.

"Explain? And how will you explain? Will you tell Shami you can’t control your men, letting them freely defy your orders, defy the laws set by the Beamon Kingdom?" Christina’s words dripped with sarcasm, coldly continuing, "Is that your explanation? What do you think Shami will think?"

"He can think whatever he likes! What do you want me to do then? Admit my wrongs to Shami, Mouni, and Bill, promising never to err again? Or perhaps read an apology letter aloud at the Leader Conference?" Carter’s lean, strong hands clenched, making a clucking sound, "Let me tell you, I can’t do that!"
