The Vastness of Magical Destiny

Chapter 897 - 28 Volumes Long Spear Plows the Courtyard - 14

Rebry was frantic with worry. The purpose of the attackers was clearly aimed at Komer, and although he was still uncertain from whence the opponent had come, the Mage’s relentless magic attacks had firmly restrained him and his companions in this place. The fierce Hammer of Thor continuously rolled in the air, lightning bolts thunderously crashing down in rapid succession, the golden serpent dancing wildly amidst the flash and rumble of thunder.

Solonberg darted across the ground, ducking and weaving to avoid this punishment from the heavenly realm, while Shatima’s thick Dragon Spear was knocked to who knows where. Her recent risky breakthrough had clearly invited retribution. With the sky thundering overhead, and despite her Dragon Power protecting her, the strong current passed down by the Dragon Spear made her usually fluffy and beautiful hair stand up on end, making her resemble an angry porcupine, an utterly bizarre sight to behold.

"Miss Shatima, please hurry and break through, Lord Komer needs you—I will help you!" Rebry took a deep breath, pressed his hands together in a precise gesture, and gently pushed forward as if moving an exceedingly heavy door. A continuous chain of deep spells was chanted from his mouth, his solemn expression proving he was exerting his full strength to activate the magic.

A dazzling white light screen finally formed low in the air and rapidly extended outwards, seeming to envelop even the garden behind. The raging Hammer of Thor hammered viciously against the milky light screen, as if intending to completely tear it apart. However, the resilient and tough light screen gradually wrapped itself around the relentless onslaught of the thunder god, and the rumbling sound of thunder gradually grew softer.

The opponent Mage had evidently realized that they were facing a formidable adversary. The imposing Hammer of Thor being quietly obscured by the Light Screen was an exquisite use of Light Arcane, hitting just the right note. For thunder-based magic, hardly any magic could dissipate it, but that did not mean it couldn’t be countered; Light Arcane and earth-based magic were the best strategies.

A sequence of Wind Blades whirled up into the air, their shrill screams overpowering the fading thunder. The Light Screen immediately began to sway in the wind, and the sharp Wind Blades tore through the barrier, leaving it in tatters. A cold chill spilled down from the sky as countless Wind Blades merged with the freezing ice edges, instantly transforming into deadly wind edges!

Rebry watched the scene in astonishment. He had been prepared for the enemy’s difficulty, but he hadn’t expected them to come up with a counter in such a short time and to launch a blend of wind and ice magic so opportunistically. Who were these people, and where had they sprung from? They were highly skilled in Elemental Magic, and he couldn’t recall anyone in the Church of Light who matched this description. They didn’t seem like they were from the Church of Light but rather from an independent system of neutral mages sitting between light and dark.

However, this was no longer important. Shatima and Solonberg had already broken through the Thunder Magic Array’s blockade, and Rebry even caught a glimpse of Mihailovich swiftly moving past. Now he had time to play with these fellows and figure out their true origins.
