Chapter 888: Volume 28, Long Halberd Plows the Courtyard, - 5: The Disparity
As a faithful ally of the Wolf Clan and a renowned sage of the Beamon Tribe, the opinions of Fox Queen Christina were always respected by all parties within the Beamon Tribe. Even Carter Wolfe, who was famously unyielding and insubordinate, could argue endlessly with Shami Taegor, but he had to carefully consider the words of Christina.
Seeing that everyone, including Shami Taegor, was pondering her words, Christina knew she had touched everyone and did not want to miss this opportunity to change the chiefs’ perspectives.
"My lords, our Beamon Tribe far exceeds the frail mortals in individual strength. In unity, we are even superior to those mortals who engage in constant deceit and strife. Yet for hundreds of years, we have been confined by those we have never regarded highly to the barren wastelands of the Mogan Plateau, unable to move, until now." Christina slowly said, "The reason we can now sit in the cities of mortals is due to our alliance with factions within mortal society."
"Have you ever thought about why this is? Are we Beamons foolish? No, we can understand the pinnacle of human civilization just as well. Though they excel in harnessing natural forces, we are gradually catching up. Personally, I feel these are not the reasons why we have been left far behind by the civilized world."
"What is the reason then?" Shami Taegor and Carter Wolfe asked in unison.
"Our Beamon lack a tradition and a system of learning and inheritance. Mortals have various systems and traditions to carry on their civilization, with schools, churches, and even families being the main conveyors of knowledge and experience accumulated by their precursors. This is exactly what we lack. We cannot blame our citizens, for they have relied on instinct and experience to survive for hundreds of years. To change these bad habits and to absorb the wisdom of mortal civilization more quickly, we must strengthen our exchanges with mortals, and cohabitation is one of the best ways. Mortals will never acquire the robust physiques that Beamons possess, but by learning and changing habits, we can adopt their advanced lifestyles and the fruits of their civilization accumulated over centuries. The gap between us and them will narrow over time. This is the conclusion I have reached."
Christina’s speech left everyone present in deep thought.
