The Vastness of Magical Destiny

Everything seemed to be progressing along the trajectory Komer had envisioned. The allegiance of the Dark Mages added some confidence to his heart. Together with Mihailovich, Newman, Clarence, and Sheferley, a medium-sized Mage Corps had finally formed. If he could succeed in rescuing Rebry and include himself as a guest mage, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it a large Mage Corps. However, all these plans had to wait until Rebry’s return.

Komer was already considering whom to send to participate in the battle.

The main members of the Mage Corps were indispensable. Marco Wilderness was not like other places. Although one could belittle the Church of Light in words, in actual combat, no one was a fool. The Church of Light had stood for centuries amidst challenges from numerous Dark Forces. Was it an easy adversary? With each generation featuring numerous experts and masters, a slight negligence could mean a no-return. Komer dared not be careless at all.

Merely relying on the Mage Corps, even in a surprise attack, seemed a bit weak. Komer needed to consider the worst-case scenario where the Religious Court sitting in the prison tower could gain support from other forces in Marco City if they couldn’t control the situation.

In Marco City, ignoring the martial power of West Fan Palace, there were still the church forces of Frenster and Vazinsky, two bishops. Besides Saints of Light, they also had many Semi Holy Knights under their command. As soon as they noticed anything unusual at the Religious Court, they could react in the shortest time. Komer had to anticipate this.

Komer planned to involve Solonberg and Vladimir Koff in this operation. With the increasingly mature Shatima, this trio of martial power also possessed some significant force. Komer had always hoped that Lecler could also become a loyal member of his forces. However, the timing was not yet right, especially challenging the Church of Light which was difficult for knights long soaked in the faith of Light to accept. Thus, Komer could only hope that Shatima would perform exceptionally in the battle to rescue Rebry.

Originally, Komer had also hoped that Bayezid, Havier, and Burianos would join this adventurous endeavor, but after weighing the pros and cons, he decided against it. Like Ilot, they might be quite powerful in a conventional war, but in a duel among masters, they would be of no help and would only add many troubles. Hence, a small but elite force was the principle for this risky operation.

"Have the contacts been set?" Komer didn’t look up, his gaze wandering across the detailed map on the desk before him. This was the detailed street map of Marco, with the Religious Court and the cathedrals of the other two bishops standing in a tripod configuration at three different locations in Marco City. The West Fan Palace, where His Holiness the Pope resided, was right in the center of Marco City, said to be the spot where the God of Light once descended, gradually giving rise to the Church of Light.
