Chapter 847: Volume 26 Ready to Launch - 10 Mixed Magic Array
The halo of the Hexagonal Star Tower gradually expanded, with the pale yellow halo continuously spreading around until, at the center of the formation, it merged to form a blurred light ball. The ground surged like a huge monster was unleashing its might underground, with bulges and depressions alternating, making the ground within a hundred meters resemble a violently undulating sea, its severe shaking making people standing at the perimeter feel somewhat unstable.
Clarence’s forehead was already covered in beads of sweat, his pale cheeks contrasting with his eyes, which appeared even brighter, fixating intensely on the circles of light projected by the six towers. The merged light ball then soaked downwards again, infiltrating the ground.
Clarence could barely control his own power anymore, the immense mana consumption made him feel as though the building was evacuated, leaving him so weak that he was almost losing the strength to stand. The intense backlash erupting from within almost overwhelmed his consciousness completely in an instant, forcing him to bite his own tongue, using the severe pain to fiercely resist this wave of dangerous over-expenditure. His entire bloodstream seemed as if it were about to boil, and Clarence could feel his body had been completely soaked in sweat. The backlash intensified wave after wave, like a raging flood assaulting the shaky dam, which, if it were to collapse, would either leave him a complete fool or cause him to die on the spot from a catastrophic rupture of his blood vessels.
Clarence realized he couldn’t hold on any longer; the severe pain in his mouth still couldn’t fend off the absolute force assaulting his mental threshold. This seemingly grand Earth Magic Array wasn’t solely composed of earth-based magic; if that were the case, even adding two mages of his own caliber wouldn’t suffice to drive such a massive Earth Magic Array. He originally wasn’t very interested in this type of Earth Magic Array, but Lord Komer, the figure behind him, was very intrigued by this large-scale Earth Magic Array, and so he had to grudgingly cater to the other’s curiosity.
It was clear to anyone with eyes that this was a Mixed Magic Array. The six towers in the sky arranged into a six-pointed star were obviously a Star Magic Array, which leveraged the power of stars and then channeled it into the Earth Magic Array. Such a thought probably only Lord Komer could harbor, yet someone still had to implement his audacious idea, leaving that damnable Star Mage to unwittingly drag him into this mess.
The unrestrained power of the Star Magic was now fully channeled into the slowly activating Earth Magic Array, and the responsibility of controlling such vast power and driving the operation of this Earth Magic Array fell to Clarence, nearly severing his meridians to accomplish this.
Lome’s delicate fingers lifted, releasing a stream of white mist that slowly infused into Clarence’s back, a powerful mana penetrating his body like a cold ice flow entering Clarence’s system, causing his blood, already boiling at its peak, to suddenly subside. The cold and heat, two completely opposing forces, battled and finally merged within Clarence, giving him an indescribable comfort. It was a transformative cleansing, as if his entire circulatory system had been thoroughly cleared, making the flow of his mana much smoother all at once.
At this moment, Clarence could finally breathe a sigh of relief. He knew that each time he survived such a life-and-death trial, not only would his understanding of magic deepen, but his foundational mana would also become much more substantial. However, the unbearable feeling of teetering on the edge of magical insanity made Clarence wonder if it was worth it to seek such opportunities twice more or if he should stop here.
