The Vastness of Magical Destiny

Chapter 829: Volume 25, Rowing against the Current, - 16, Rescue Challenge

Komer, clad in his voluminous black robe, sat in the room alone, the dim environment seeming to impart a sense of tranquility and peace. At least, that’s how Komer felt as he sat quietly, thinking of nothing yet encompassing everything in his mind, his thoughts wandering to the farthest reaches, his spirit journeying thousands of miles. At this moment, he could allow his mind’s musings the chance to stretch infinitely without any fetters to hinder their flight. With his eyes half-closed, his mind would sometimes become clear, at other times a chaotic maelstrom, and this illusion of a moment lasting a year brought Komer great comfort.

Meditating alone was evidently beneficial for enhancing his Spiritual Power, with elements from the surrounding air excluded from his thoughts. He needed only to explore quietly, and with each bit of insight, he gathered them into his heart, little by little, accumulating like fur from the arm becoming a coat, sand becoming a tower. Komer could even sense the rapid growth and movement of that power within his soul, the nourishment of Magic Power enriching his spirit. Only when his soul expanded infinitely to a certain height, could Komer begin to glimpse the profound mysteries of the Magic Heaven.

"Ding!" A crisp sound rang in Komer’s ears, pulling him back from his boundless spiritual journey. He slowly shifted his gaze forward, as the holographic image, once blurred like a light shadow in water, gradually became clear before Komer’s eyes.

The image of Maha Gummi with his mischievous appearance appeared at the entrance of the courtyard. Komer frowned slightly; although he knew Maha Gummi’s presence at this time must be for something important, the fact that it wasn’t the person he was waiting for made Komer somewhat disappointed. However, he quickly adjusted his mood, as those in high positions have no personal time to themselves.

With a light tap of his finger, the holographic image faded away slowly, disappearing into the air like a wisp of smoke, silent and traceless. Standing up, he stretched his body casually and pulled back the heavy curtain, Komer standing with his hands behind his back.

The sound of firm, steady footsteps approached, and Maha Gummi, viewing not the broadest of backs, still felt an immense reverence for Lord Komer. Each encounter with the Lord always imparted in him some new sensation, and even Maha Gummi couldn’t explain why his usually calm mind would experience such subtle enlightenment in the presence of the Lord.

"What’s the matter?"

"Lord, the matter you instructed me to investigate now has some leads," Maha Gummi stated, not daring to enter without permission, standing at the door. The gloomy atmosphere of the indoors hit him, making it slightly uncomfortable for him, not knowing why the Lord preferred such an environment for solitude—perhaps it was a necessity unique to Mages. Maha Gummi dared not speculate recklessly.

"The matter I asked you to investigate? Which one?" It must be no small matter for Maha Gummi to come looking for him at this time.

Looking up in slight surprise, Maha Gummi then said, "The matter concerning Mr. Rebry."

"Oh?" Komer’s spirit lifted; this matter had been ongoing for some time, yet Maha Gummi’s men had always been unable to grasp more detailed and accurate intelligence. Komer had been too preoccupied with other matters to attend to it recently, and now that he had delegated the affairs of Homer to Neptune, he could be somewhat at leisure. With this new development, it was just the right time. "Go on."
