Chapter 590: Volume 15: Thunder Shocking the Ground, - 8: Detecting the Puppet
Those with Magic Shields, such as Rebry and Mihailovich, were naturally undaunted by what they considered child’s play. To the true Mages or knights, this magic was not much of a threat. Of course, if a commoner was hit by such spell, they would likely be petrified and turned into a statue in a very short time, without even a chance to cry for help.
"Let’s go, it’s open now." The sturdy greenstone Door opened slowly after a hit from the Shatima Dragon Spear. The Door opened at an even pace, as if operated by some mechanism. The pitch-black interior of the Door was like the entrance to an endless Abyss, seemingly ready to swallow everything, even the light itself.
Mihailovich’s miniature Magic Puppet looked somewhat comical, with disproportionately long, thin arms that were likely made of the legendary Phantasmal Black Gold—an extremely rare Magic Metal that could change shape at will, becoming longer or shorter, thicker or thinner. It was Komer’s first encounter with such a material, and to his surprise, it was featured in Mihailovich’s preferred Puppet. The Puppet’s legs, however, were made of several short segments of Magic Metal and special wooden materials, seemingly capable of bending at any angle. The Puppet’s head was exquisitely crafted, likely made of wood, but clearly had a metallic object, also likely Magic Metal, embedded on the top. A pair of eyes made of a non-metal called Mingyuan Stone, which is particularly sensitive to Magic power, were capable of changing colors in response to different types of Magic power. It was a high-grade material used for detection and scouting purposes.
The Puppet walked two meters ahead of Shatima, its rotating head and telescopic arms ready to alert the explorers to danger. Although Komer was skeptical about how much a few meters could help in giving a warning, it was certainly much safer psychologically than letting anyone walk in front.
