Chapter 525: Volume Twelve: Magic Flame Burning Fiercely, - Sixteen: Prairie Fire
Gently removing the girl’s delicate arm from around his neck, Komer propped himself up and silently gazed at the woman entangled with his body. From any angle, her slender and fair body could be described as stunningly beautiful, with fine eyebrows, starry eyes, cherry lips, and a delicate nose. She was once a high and mighty Protector of the Faith from the Church of Light, now entwined with the very Dark wizard that the Church of Light loathed and despised the most. Was this fate or destiny?
With a wave of his hand, the Magic Soundproof Barrier Komer had set up was removed. Although he believed no one would eavesdrop on his room, Komer had set the magic barrier as a precaution in the last moment of madness, preventing any strange sounds from leaking out. His caution proved to be very wise. At least three groups of people visited his room, but they all quietly retreated under the "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging outside Komer’s door. The room remained as still as water, easing many people’s minds, for it was hard not to let imaginations run wild after a man and a woman had been alone together for hours.
After resting for a night, when Komer returned to the public eye with his usual calm demeanor, nearly everyone sensed that he seemed to have undergone some change in one aspect or another. Even the Elves, with their keen intuition, could not pinpoint exactly what had changed in their Mage companion. They vaguely felt that he now carried an additional sense of pride and boldness between his brows, as if yesterday’s battle had honed his spirit, making him even more dignified and composed.
Meanwhile, Mage Lome seemed to be feeling unwell, staying inside all day without leaving her room. Although the three girls took turns visiting the young girl mage resting in bed, the radiant and fresh vitality on her face suggested she should be in better spirits than the day before. So why did she need to lie in bed to rest?
The three girls were innocent and, although they could sense something unusual from the other’s languidly delicate aura, none of them had ever undergone the transformation from a maiden to a matron. Eve, although a Shepherd, knew that this sort of physical discomfort was not something her White Magic could heal. Other than wishing her a speedy recovery, they buried any doubts deep within their hearts.
The Morsonas Monument District soon entered its climax days. The Magic Practitioners who had advanced to the finals were at least of Mage and Priest level—experts in their own right. Magicians and Shepherds from the previous phase had fallen during the earlier days, and there was no shame in that.
The Magic Association held this grand magic contest to inspire people’s pursuit of Magic Skills, encouraging more of the public to engage in this field. From Magicians to Great Mages, all had started as Magic Apprentices, with no one achieving instant success. Magicians and Shepherds at these levels were the foundation that built the entire pyramid of magic.
This grand magic contest was not merely a contest of magic. To accommodate many martial artists and Mages who had traveled from afar, and following their strong request, the Magic Association decided to alter the competition schedule, creating a special mixed combat event.
The mixed combat event had no restrictions on magic or martial arts; contestants could choose any form of combat to compete in, closely resembling real combat. The only restriction was not to kill the opponent. Although the Magic Association had specially arranged for four experienced Mages around the competition stage to prevent accidents, contestants had to sign a waiver of liability before stepping onto the stage. Furthermore, to discourage such contests, the Magic Association even refused to award any prizes for this extra competition.
