Chapter 522: Volume 12: Fierce Demonic Flames, - 13: The Elf among Elves
"I’m sorry, I don’t have the right to claim this Yingluo from you. At first, it was just a hobby, uh..." Princess Finitz seemed at a loss for words as she tried to explain this special hobby of hers, a pursuit she had been fond of for as long as she could remember.
She didn’t understand why she always felt a sense of indescribable joy after each successful endeavor. Within her own clan, no one minded her behavior, and quite a few of the male elves even took pride in being visited by her; if Princess Finitz took interest in something, it was considered an honor.
However, Finitz had realized that once she stepped outside of her clan’s territory and into Mortal Society, her actions resembled a despised profession—thief, burglar, pickpocket. Everyone who spoke of such conduct did so with clenched teeth, except for the practitioners of the profession itself.
Princess Finitz wanted to stop being despised in Mortal Society, but she found that almost everything there required something called Gold Shield to exchange for food and all other services. It seemed her talents were the only way she could earn Gold Shields—even if it meant attracting curses from behind her back. Yet, she felt it was a better option than being thrown out of inns and taverns.
"No need to explain, what’s done is done. By the way, I have a few friends who also seem to have some items with you, some things that look like documents, from a few days ago in this city. You should remember," Komer said.
Seeing the innocent look in her clear, water-like eyes, Komer could only choose to believe her. If she thought her performance was worthwhile, then Komer had to admit she was the most skillful actress he had ever seen, even better than Tracy.
Finitz almost bit her lip in distress, tears brimming in her eyes. She had never expected her actions had been noticed twice by the same person, an undeniable blow to her image. She knew that Mortal Society found such behavior hard to forgive.
"I’m sorry, I have everything with me, yes, in the inn where I’m staying. I don’t know which items belong to your friends, can you come with me to identify them?" The Elf Girl lowered her head to her chest, rubbing her hands together unconsciously over her abdomen, like a child admitting a mistake to her parents.
