The Vastness of Magical Destiny

Chapter 435: Volume 9: Phantom of the Ancient Castle, - 4: Hidden Treasure

As three dark shadows slowly infiltrated into the body of the struggling Mysterious Magician, the group finally managed to catch their breath. The two Dark Knights almost collapsed onto the ground; their combined strike had nearly drained all their strength. The Puppet Mage’s somewhat pale face showed signs of exhaustion, and the triple Dark Binding had also taken a toll on Rebry. However, Komer’s "Heavenly Thunder Punishment," though also a fine example of thunder-based magic, had consumed much less energy compared to the others.

At this moment, the only one seemingly unaffected was the Thin and Dry Magician Newman, who had been staring at everyone with an inexplicable look, unaware of what had caused the battle to erupt. He had been fully engaged in opening the secret door when the fight broke out and didn’t even know who had attacked whom first.

Watching the resentful, defiant gaze mixed with a hint of disdain from the Mysterious Magician, the Puppet Mage couldn’t help but want to tear off the veil draped over her face. "Mr. Mihailovich, let me do it. I too am eager to see how this esteemed Mage from the Bright Holy Teaching managed to infiltrate our team. Judging by her appearance, she must hold significant weight within the Church of Light."

With a wave of his hand, Rebry, who had lost the ability to resist, conveyed a flash of panic in his eyes as the veil fluttered to the ground, revealing a colorless, expressionless face. Everyone was taken aback; it was a face so still it would remind one of the dead if not for the eyes which were still actively moving.

"Hmm, it’s funny to see that a Light Mage also likes to hide and skulk," Komer indicated for Rebry to step aside and moved forward, kneeling on one knee before the still writhing Mysterious Magician. Their eyes met, and Komer nodded and reached out to gently trace her somewhat pale cheek, sending waves of spasms through his hands. "Stop! Take your filthy hands off me, you demons!"

Startled, Komer shook his head, the smile on his face growing warmer, "Heh, it seems that to her, we might all be unforgivable demons. I wonder why Miss Lome chose to lower herself and mingle with us. Was she trying to detect our strengths and weaknesses, or did she have other purposes? It seems that we wouldn’t normally merit such high regard from the Church of Light."
