Chapter 229 - 3: Frenzy_2
This term nearly burst forth from Komer’s mind, no wonder he himself could hardly contain his own emotions. Looking again at the expressions of the Puppet Mage and Rebry, the faint, almost colorless and tasteless smoke was not some sort of magic, but a dark plant concoction. Moreover, the onset of its effects was not swift, but the duration was indeed significant. It could induce an excited state in the nerves of the inhaler, greatly enhancing emotions of dislike and hatred towards the target, commonly referred to as causing an outbreak of the user’s inherent aversion. In many cases, it would manifest through violent martial force. However, why this Mysterious Magician suddenly redirected his loathsome emotions towards Vladimir Koff was something that baffled Komer enormously.
While this dark fog also has some effect on practitioners of Dark-based magic, it is not significant, but for other practitioners, especially those of the Light Series and Holy Series, the impact is particularly notable. Komer had once studied with an eccentric Half-Beastman Pharmacist and spent a period of time sparring in potion-making, mastering quite a few skills in this area.
A series of Light Shields continually orbited around the Mysterious Magician. The Fighting Qi unleashed by the two Dark Knights’ Knight Spears could not completely shatter the Magician’s protective Light Shield. The formidable Light attack magic forced the two Dark Knights to dodge left and right to avoid the powerful lethality. This was a true display of the Mysterious Magician’s strength. His Flight Technique was like the wind—breathtaking—and both Komer and Rebry had to admit that in this respect, no one in their small adventure group could match him.
"Mr. Mihailovich, I would like to take the liberty of asking, who exactly recommended Mage Lome to join us for this adventure, and where does she come from? Was it you yourself?" Seeing how the two Dark Knights were struggling increasingly under the mysterious magician’s growingly frenzied attack, and how the powerful Light Magic she displayed was proof enough of her very close association with the Bright Holy Teaching. Now that everyone’s secrets were nearly laid bare before her, should she break free, Komer feared that all of them, himself included, would face boundless trouble. Hence, he had to prepare in advance.
"Uh, a friend of mine recommended her. Since he was traveling abroad and couldn’t attend, he referred this allegedly highly skillful Mage Lome in Light Magic. You may rest assured on this point, Lord. Our friends are all of the same kind; no outsiders would be able to mingle with us," Mihailovich hastily explained, clearly understanding the implication in Komer’s words.
"Mr. Mihailovich, I’m afraid your words are hardly satisfactory. Look at her use of ’High Clouds’—this is the purest form of Light Magic. I cannot imagine a Dark wizard who could cultivate Light Magic power to such an extent. Except for a natural-born Light Mage, no one could achieve this!" Shaking his head, Komer obviously could not accept the other party’s explanation, especially since the other party also seemed to know little about the Mysterious Magician. Merely a friend’s recommendation letter was not enough for Komer to believe. "Mr. Mihailovich, if you are unable to make Mage Lome cease and submit to our inspection, then I regret we must be rude to her."
