Chapter 56 Desire to Change Fate
Kaelith sat on a chair, his gaze fixated on the black egg sitting on top of the table.
"What kind of dragon are you? You look so unfamiliar." His finger brushed over the callousness of the eggshell.
The egg had not reacted to his touch since he had brought it to his room. "Or are you scared that I might drain your blood before you get the chance to live?"
He poked at the dragon egg, his face only inches away from the shell’s surface. "You better be useful... I don’t take things that aren’t beneficial to me."
"Now how should we get you hatched... I’m only an expert in making you extinct, not the other way around. I guess I need to borrow more books from the library," he muttered to himself.
"Or I can ask a dragon... I happen to have one underneath the floor."
A knock came from the door. He turned, facing it, his brows furrowed as he wasn’t expecting any visitor. And he had told River not to let anyone disturb him.
Before he could say a word, the door creaked open. Scarlet peeked his head from the other side of the door.
"Can I come inside?"
"No."
But Scarlet entered the room anyway, shutting the door behind him.
