Chapter 50 The Calling (2)
Kaelith frowned, as he knew he couldn’t use his royal title, and even if he tried, it wouldn’t matter as it would be him shooting himself in the foot, giving a reason to the Emperor to punish him... worse get him killed. This was because he knew these men didn’t follow princes or nobles. They answer only to the throne and if they saw him, there would be questions... questions he couldn’t afford to answer.
Fighting them wasn’t an option, even though he had distortion. Right now, the best plan is not to draw any attention.
He looked down at his ring. ’With my current stage... I won’t be able to cast a spell strong enough to put them to slumber... so you need to help me."
Kaelith closed his eyes, and he brought the ring close to his mouth. "Mteh tu le ps’ep ".
His eyes lightened almost as if they had turned silvery, and the Drakyn ring glowed with a faint shimmering light. "Go." He flicked his wrist towards their direction.
Across the hall, the torches flickered once... and then again. One of the High Mages turned slightly. "Did you feel that? There is something here with us."
"Yes... I could feel an ancient and powerful magic," another said, glancing around. His eyes widened in horror. "Do you think it has finally broken free..."
Before he could finish, all four of them staggered and collapsed. Their body lay on the floor, with a red aura cocooning around them.
Kaelith stepped out from the shadows knowing the spell had finally worked. He slowly strode towards the door, as if he had all the time in the world; his expression was blank but his brows furrowed slightly.
The door was enormous, taller than any gate he had ever seen. The iron was so old it had turned black, and strange symbols covered its surface, glowing faintly.
His eyes landed on a faded seal at the center, a big circle with triangles within it. He recognized it right away. It was a powerful rune opened by only blood.
