Chapter 78: Trial of the Primordial Hunt!
Way later that day, it was night-time, and the garden had long since became extremely quiet, the moon hanging in the sky like an eye watching over the world.
Damon stood near the exit to the garden terrace, with Artemis’ beautiful body nestled in his arms, her face pressed lightly against his firm chest.
"I still can’t believe she said that," Artemis grumbled, her cheeks still faintly pink as she thought of what your mother did.
Damon chuckled, brushing his fingers through her soft, silken hair. "She’s your mother. You should’ve expected something ridiculous."
Artemis pulled back just enough to meet his eyes, "You’ll survive her... right? I’ve heard of what mothers can do when their daughter meets a man."
Damon grinned, "I’ve faced Abyssal beasts and soul-ripping curses. I think I can handle one overprotective fox matriarch."
He leaned in and kissed her one last time, gentle, warm, and laced with promise.
"Get some rest," he whispered.
"You too," she replied, though her expression lingered in concern. She knew her mother better than most, and she knew her mother would be watching Damon in the coming months and years.
Still, she sighed, Damon was the best man she knew, so if he couldn’t pass the test, she knew no-one could. The duo split apart, heading to their own rooms.
Damon’s room was as lavish as expected of a Dragon Clan heir, walls laced with mana-veined stone, enchanted crystal lighting, a large bed surrounded by runes for protection and comfort. But for all the grandeur, Damon felt... watched.
