Chapter 68: The Heart of Starlight Island!
The ground beneath Damon was a magnificent painting of chaos and destruction. The closer and closer Damon and Artemis got to the Heart of Starlight Island, where the Princess was sealed, the more chaotic the environment appeared.
Craters marred the land, scattered with the remains of Abyssal Monsters, their malevolent energy slowly spreading from their dead bodies and into the air. The sky above was an oppressive shade of crimson, as if the island itself bled in response to the atrocities committed here.
Damon tightly held BloodReaper, prepared for any sneak attack sent his way, BloodReaper was still pulsing with the residual energy of his last attack as he moved forwards. His eyes were sharp, his senses on high alert as he scanned the horizon for any remaining threats.
Meanwhile, beside him, Artemis trembled slightly, her wide eyes reflecting the devastation around them.
"We’re almost there," Damon said, his voice a low rumble. He extended a hand to Artemis, who was visibly shaken but resolute. Her grip on his hand was firm, her delicate fingers cool against his skin.
"I know," she replied, her voice steady despite the fear that lingered in her eyes. "But this place... it’s like a nightmare. Are you sure the exit is towards the centre?" She inquired.
Damon hadn’t told her about the Astonomanian Princess, just deciding to reveal that there was a secret exit near where the Princess was sealed in the Heart of Starlight Island.
Damon nodded, his expression softening as he looked at her. "Just trust me, I know what I’m doing. We’ll get through this. Just stay close and on high alert."
They walked on, each step taking them closer to the center of the island. The terrain grew more treacherous, the air thick with an oppressive energy that made it difficult to breathe. Damon’s eyes glowed faintly as he activated his <Eyes Of Oblivion>, scanning for any hidden traps or formations that could spell their doom.
Lilith had already given him most of the information about potential traps around the island, but in Damon’s eyes, it was always better to be safe rather than sorry.
"Careful," he muttered, pointing out a faint, shimmering line in the dirt. "That’s a Mana Disruption Trap. Step over it."
