Chapter 17: First Mission - Part 2!
Damon looked at Perpetua. She was a young adult female Demon with long light red hair that she kept in a bun. Her body was rather plump and she could be called conventionally attractive among the Demons.
Perpetua was currently in discussion with three ( 3 ) Human Men, however, Damon could distinctly sense the corrupted Mana of the Abyss present within these Humans, signifying their status as Abyssal Contractors.
Damon immediately shuttled through the forest, leaping through the Shadows using a recently learned spell, [ Shadow Stalk ]. Damon had inherited the spell from Ashborn, and it cloaked him within a Domain of Shadows that allowed him to remain invisible to both the naked eye and mana senses as long as he remained within Shadows. The spell was not perfect, as if someone was significantly stronger than Damon, they could sense him.
Damon took a position on the roof of the Factory and began inspecting the surrounding area. Damon could spot guards patrolling all over the surrounding area, however, the highest concentration of guards was inside the factory, where the various Kidnapped individuals were being kept.
Damon took BloodReaper, transforming it into an Operator, a weapon from his previous life but this time it was enhanced by Mana. Damon’s plan was to use the Operator to snipe down the various guards positioned on the outskirts of the deal, to slowly and quietly drop the number of enemies for when he goes for the Assassination of the Primary Target.
Unfortunately, Damon knew he could only use the Operator for this, as Guns even when enhanced by Mana simply were too weak compared to weapons like Swords and Bows due to the complicated Manner of how Mana flows with the weapon. Thus, Damon could only use the Operator to kill weaker targets like the guards on the outskirts.
Damon had placed a silencer on the Operator to block all sound from escaping. Damon looked into the scope with great concentration and held his breath. Damon looked at his target, a weak Guard positioned NorthWest to Perpetua on the outskirts.
The target was the enemy’s head!
Damon pulled the trigger. His body absorbed all the recoil coming from the butt of the rifle, and his hands gripped the rifle to stabilize it. Damon could see that the bullet had managed to hit the target straight in the head, instantly killing him.
"Freya, you know what to do, make sure you’re not spotted." Damon said in his head. On queue, a beautiful angel silently flew towards the body of the dead guard, incinerating him with Pure White Flames.
Damon made Freya’s job simple, dispose of the bodies of enemies so they are not found. Damon knew Freya’s combat style wasn’t suited to silent Assassinations, yet he knew it would be completely idiotic to completely ignore her obvious strengths and so deployed her this way.
