Chapter 137: Mother And Son
"Fucking hell! I knew that bastard boy was nothing but a piece of shit! And Leandra—that arrogant bitch! Father always treats them better than us. The both of them have fucked everything up! The damn mother and son!" A middle-aged man with a thick mustache and short brown hair roared, his voice echoing in the lavish living room.
He kicked a large vase near the fireplace, shattering it against the marble floor. Water spilled from the broken porcelain, soaking into the expensive rug as flowers lay scattered like fallen soldiers.
"Ryan! What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you screaming?" A strikingly beautiful woman with a curvy figure rushed into the room, her silk bodycon dress flowing behind her. Her eyes immediately took in the broken vase and then narrowed on her husband, who was in the middle of grabbing another decorative piece. "What the fuck are you doing? Stop it right now! The kids are still home, for God’s sake!"
"Stop? You want me to stop?" Ryan bellowed, his chest heaving as he pointed at the television. "Why don’t you *watch this* and tell me to calm down!"
The woman turned her attention to the screen, where the news anchor’s voice filled the room:
"In a stunning revelation, Ephyra Allen has exposed a web of crimes involving her stepmother, Marianna Allen, and Alan Latham, the son of Latham Laboratories. The scandal has sent shockwaves through the business world, with Latham Industries’ stocks plummeting to an all-time low. The family’s reputation is in ruins after the dramatic events of Alan Latham and Myra Allen’s engagement banquet."
The camera cut to footage of Marianna being escorted by police, her pale face devoid of its usual arrogance. Reporters swarmed her, shouting questions that went unanswered.
Ryan sneered, his fury reigniting. "Look at this mess! Look at what that self-righteous, conniving witch has done! And Leandra—she knew, I’m sure of it. She’s always been too fucking smug for her own good. And her perfect little boy Alan—Father’s golden child! Well, guess what? The prodigy just sunk the entire ship!"
The woman stared at the screen, her expression shifting from shock to grim understanding. "I... I can’t believe this," she murmured, sinking onto the arm of the couch. "Alan’s actions and Marianna’s arrest are bad enough, but Leandra? If she’s involved in this—"
