Chapter 118: Smile
"Cyran!" a familiar female voice called, and they all turned to see Cyran’s mom trotting over in a corset-style jumpsuit, her black hair packed into a high ponytail.
"Mom! You came!" Cyran smiled widely as he hurried over to his mom, and they both met in a tight hug, which went on for almost a minute. When Cyran’s mom pulled away, tears were glistening in her eyes, and she cupped her son’s face, a wide smile on her lips.
"Of course, I will come! It’s my son’s high school graduation. I would come even if I were at the end of the world. Besides, I didn’t want to be like your dad, who is nothing but a disappointment."
"I’m happy you were able to come, Mom. Thank you."
"I’m happy too, but there is no need to thank me. Now, where are your friends?" She said, shifting her gaze away from Cyran and turning to look behind him.
Cyran turned and gestured toward Ephyra, Malia, and Orla, who stood nearby. "They’re right here, Mom. Come meet them."
Mrs. Carver strode over gracefully, and she immediately hugged Ephyra when she saw her. "It’s so good to see you again, Ephyra." She pulled away, holding her by the shoulders. "You look so beautiful."
"Thank you, Mrs. Carver. Cyran informed us that something happened, so we thought you wouldn’t make it. We were actually planning on going out together to surprise Cyran with a small celebration of our own," Ephyra finished smoothly, a faint smile on her lips.
Mrs. Carver’s expression softened, and she glanced at her son with pride. "I see he has such thoughtful friends. Thank you for looking out for him."
