Chapter 49: Like Animals
Leandra stood up and calmly walked around the table to stand in front of Eira, staring at her as if she were looking at a mere nuisance—something insignificant yet unexpectedly challenging. Her gaze was icy, sizing up Eira with contempt and ridicule.
"When I heard that you’d changed after your accident, I ignored it because it was insignificant. Whether or not you changed didn’t matter to me. Besides, how different can you become? But now..." Her eyes trailed down Eira’s body and back up again. "You are nothing like the foolish girl I knew. Definitely not in appearance."
Eira tilted her head. "Is that a compliment?" Then she pouted. "Sorry, but I don’t accept compliments from a nasty-mouthed woman like you." With that, she walked around the table and sat down.
Leandra’s jaw tightened, her nostrils flaring as she slowly turned to face Eira, masking her anger with a cold smile. She walked back to her chair, settling herself with deliberate grace, her eyes never leaving Eira’s face. "Were you the one who sent me the video?"
Eira crossed her legs and leaned forward. With a sweet smile on her lips, she whispered, "Are you dumb? Or is it that you can’t wrap your head around how I could get such a video? Are you that self-absorbed?" Eira continued, her tone laced with mock innocence. "Or maybe you’re just too wrapped up in your little world to realize that there are people better and more powerful than you are—a thousand times."
Leandra’s smile wavered for a brief second, but she quickly recovered, narrowing her eyes. "You’ve certainly grown a sharp tongue, haven’t you? But be careful, Ephyra—too much confidence can be dangerous."
Eira leaned back, unfazed, her gaze steady. "Funny, I could say the same to you. But unlike you, I’m not trying to control anyone else’s life." She shrugged casually. "Just cleaning up my own."
"On that note..." She took her phone out of her handbag and tapped on the screen a few times before placing it on the table. She slid it close enough for Leandra to see the screen. "Let’s get straight to why I am here, hmm?"
Leandra glanced at the screen and saw that it was a video, but this time it showed two people having dinner—none other than that slut, Myra, and her son—Alan. She turned to face Eira again. "What’s this?"
