Chapter 73: Arrogance of a Noble
"I’ll ask again. Who used magic to protect that man?!" The coashman, who was also a knight, asked.
Everyone murmured to themselves, not answering the question. Some snuck into the alleyways to avoid being spotted while some turned around, acting as if they were busy.
"It was him! I saw that man use magic!" A man shouted from the side, pointing at Kai.
Kai gave the man a nasty glare. "What a fucking snitch. Do you know what they do to losers like you in prison? They [REDACTED] is what they do!"
"You there, boy! Come here now!" The knight demanded
Kai blinked, utterly shocked by how the knight referred to him. He tapped his girls on the arm and asked them if he had heard the man correctly.
"I’m not tripping, am I? I swear he called me ’boy’. He said that, right?"

Amaya protracted her claws, hissing at the man. "Does he want to die?!"
Kai was ready to have heads rolling on the ground, but he had just arrived in the city and didn’t want it to leave a sour taste in his mouth. So, he calmed down, urged his girls to do the same, and approached the knight.
"Yeah, it was me who used magic, what’s the problem?"
"Hmph. You must be a traveler since you don’t know the rules. Magic is forbidden to be used in the city unless for an emergency!"
