Chapter 35: Messing with Mary
"You fucking bitch! You left me out there to die! I should fucking kill you!" Gwen shouted in anger when Phil tried to greet her.
"I-I’m sorry. I was scared. We already lost two people, and...and I didn’t want to die." Phil cried, hugging Gwen’s legs.
"Get the fuck off me! Just looking at you is pissing me off! I won’t ever work with you again. I hope your license gets revoked!" She kicked Phil off and left the guild alongside Kai after he finished turning in the Quest to get paid.
"Sorry you had to see that," Gwen said with her head down, sitting on a nearby bench
Kai shook his head. "Nah, it’s okay. I don’t blame you. I would act the same way if I learned my team left me behind to die. I would want them dead to be honest."
"He’s lucky I didn’t blow off his head. Ugh, just thinking about it is making me upset." She produced a flame in her hand, then clenched her fist hard, extinguishing the flame.
Kai wrapped his arm around her, leaning her head on his shoulder as he rubbed her arm. "I know this doesn’t make up for the experience you went through, but here, take this." He gave her the entire bag of money he earned from the quest.
"You’re giving me the reward? Why? You’re the one who killed the trolls and saved my life." While she was grateful for Kai, she wasn’t greedy.
"You deserve it. Besides, I only took the quest to save you, not for the money."
’Technically, I just want to fuck you. I deserve that at least, right?’ He thought to himself.
"Well, since you’re offering, I won’t decline. Thanks."
