Chapter 17: Adventuring as a Porter Part 2
"The map clearly said that the camp was right over this hill. Maybe it was wrong?"
"Or they left." Sophia countered.
Josh was skeptical. Why would monsters leave a place they made home? Were they evolving in intelligence? If so, then this was more dangerous than they thought.
"Wait, do you see that? Quick, light up that area over there!" Josh pointed off in the distance.
Sophia formed a ball of light in her hand, then tossed it into the distance. After traveling for a bit, it split apart into multiple orbs of light that illuminated the entire area.
She gasped. "Is that..."
"An abandoned monster camp and dead adventurers. Looks like this is the right place, it’s just that we’re too late. Let’s head back and inform the others."
Soon after heading back to their camp, Josh and Sophie met up with Lucy and Richard.
"Did you two find anything?" Josh asked after telling them what he and Sophie found.
"Traces of a battle and fleeing. Monsters were clearly here, but they aren’t anymore. However, we found a plethora of clothes and fresh weapons. Even some farming tools." Lucy explained.
"There’s a village not too far from here. That could explain the farming tools. As for the weapons, that’s clearly from a hunter or adventurer. Maybe-"
