Davey couldn't fathom what inspired Freyja to make such a bizarre request. He could feel her silently watching from across the table, expressionless, as he focused on making the fried rice she had asked for.

He’d taken a moment to ponder whether it was really okay, ethically speaking, for her to eat animal products. After all, she was the Creator, the Mother of all living beings. But he shook his head.
The Goddess Freyja before him was far more human and far more down to earth than the Freyja he knew. In a way, it was like watching her take her first and last vacation.

Davey cracked the egg and dropped it into the pan. She gave a small, satisfied nod before turning her gaze back to him. Of course, even under that intense stare, he couldn’t just stop what he was doing.
[Salt.]
“I’m getting to it.”
When Davey reached for the salt shaker nearby and went to sprinkle it in, she suddenly stood up. She walked over, gently rolled up his sleeve, and then returned to her seat with a thumbs-up.
