Once Davey entered the quiet, elegant building Kouna’s grandfather had invited him to, the old man offered him a cup of tea.
“Our family used to run a traditional tea house long ago. Though we’ve since abandoned the business, the history and tradition haven’t disappeared.”
Davey silently watched as the man leisurely savored his tea, before lifting his own cup.
Meanwhile, Rinne—who had for some reason chosen to follow along—expressionlessly munched on the cookies offered by a servant.
“I’ve been wanting to meet you for a long time now. How’s the tea?”
“Let’s skip the pleasantries and get straight to the point,” Davey said calmly.
The man looked at Davey intently, as if he was studying him, before continuing, “I’ve heard the stories. You’re her custodian.”
“Yes. I’m her custodian.”
“Yet, she already has someone who takes care of her, me. As her grandfather, her having a custodian seems a bit off.”
Davey simply smiled. “You have two chances left.”
Hearing his gentle but firm response, the man’s expression twitched slightly.
