Disregarding the power of taboo, Khan had consumed an enormous amount of mana—enough to defeat Sleesia, at least. His strength was beyond imagination, making it only natural that it would be difficult for Isildi to handle him.
In the meantime, their only hope, Davey, had transferred most of his mana to Khan. If things had gone wrong, they could've all ended up being devoured by Khan who would have become so powerful that it was impossible to stop him.
