I Can See Through Everything

Chapter 644

I Can See Through Everything

“Many thanks for Senior’s advice. This junior will now take his leave to make preparations.”

Lu Qing paid no heed to the old man’s sneering tone.

The reason he had come here was solely to obtain the Trial Jade Token.

Now that he had it in hand, there was no reason to linger. He bowed slightly and departed.

Watching Lu Qing’s back as he left, the old man’s once-murky eyes gradually cleared. A strange light flickered within them.

“That sword qi earlier… it carried the flavor of a certain sect. Could it be… this boy is a disciple of that mad Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect?”

But soon after, he shook his head.

“No, that’s not right. His sword qi is not pure. There’s something else mixed in. He doesn’t seem like a true disciple of the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect.”

“Perhaps he’s just some lucky brat who stumbled upon one of that sect’s inheritances and managed to grasp a little of its mysteries.”

“That wouldn’t be surprising. Those old monsters of the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect always loved leaving legacies scattered across worlds, claiming it was for fated ones to find. This kid might just be one of those fortunate few.”

“No wonder he’s so confident about passing the Netherworld Palace’s trial. If he can wield even a fragment of that sect’s sword dao, he could indeed be called a sword genius.”

“If he acts cautiously, it’s not impossible he might truly pass the trial and earn a place as one of our Palace’s outer members.”

“Still… for a disciple of that sect to end up joining our Netherworld Palace—if those sword maniacs ever found out, they’d be furious! Their expressions would be a sight to behold…”

The old man’s lips curled into a mischievous smile, already savoring the thought of those so-called sword fanatics learning the truth.

Lu Qing, of course, knew nothing of this.

His Minor Heaven-Shattering Sword Qi had been comprehended through his divine ability, from the sword mark in the One Line Sky Gorge of his home world.

That mark had endured for over a hundred thousand years.

Since he had always walked his path alone, he had no idea the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect still existed.

After leaving the small building, Lu Qing shed his disguise and found an inn to settle in for the time being.

Once his arrangements were complete, he finally drew out the jade token and examined it closely.

To be honest, acquiring this trial qualification had been far easier than he had expected.

But then again, even Daoist Wubao had been able to obtain one back in the day. For Lu Qing, it was naturally no challenge at all.

A sweep with his divine ability revealed nothing unusual. Satisfied, he infused his soul force into it.

Soon, the information within flowed into his mind—the time and location of the trial.

“Half a month later, is it? That’s plenty of time to prepare.”

Lu Qing valued this trial greatly.

After all, it directly concerned his ability to quickly amass large amounts of spirit stones.

He even harbored another thought: if he could pass the trial and gain the status of an outer member of the Netherworld Palace, perhaps he could use their channels to exchange the stockpile of treasures he held for spirit stones.

The Netherworld Palace was a force so fearsome that even the Demon Domain and the Human Domain showed it deference.

Surely, they had the appetite to swallow the wealth he carried.

If so, then even without taking assassination missions, he would have enough resources to sustain his cultivation for a long time.

Still, he would only test that possibility after passing the trial and understanding the Palace’s ways.

With those thoughts in mind, he calmed his spirit and began cultivating.

Although his supply of spirit stones was dwindling, leaving him unable to sustain high-intensity cultivation, the inn’s small cave-dwelling was rich with spiritual energy.

The path of cultivation lay in steady accumulation. Since he had the time, he would not waste it.

Time flowed without notice. Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

An hour before the appointed time, Lu Qing ended his seclusion, settled the inn’s bill, and streaked across the sky as a stream of light, heading toward the location inscribed on the jade token.

The site was ten thousand miles from the city where he had stayed. But to Lu Qing, that distance was nothing.

Soon, he arrived.

Before him lay an ordinary valley nestled in the midst of a forest.

Without the token’s guidance, none would ever suspect that this was the famed Trial Grounds of the Netherworld Palace.

After triple-checking from above that he was at the right place, Lu Qing began to descend.

Yet midway down, a blade light suddenly shot from the forest below, slashing toward him.

Its sharpness was that of a Golden Core late-stage cultivator.

Lu Qing’s brow lifted. Without knowing the situation, he didn’t counterattack. Instead, his body flickered as he lightly dodged the strike.

“Hm?”

From the forest came a sound of surprise. The attacker had not expected someone who only revealed the aura of a mid-stage Golden Core to evade his ambush.

In the next instant, three figures burst from the trees and blocked Lu Qing’s path.

“Not only did you attack me, you now bar my way. What do you mean by this?” Lu Qing asked coolly.

He still wore his Ghost-Face Mask and dark cloak, presenting a mysterious appearance. Xiao Li had already retreated into the Li Huo Cauldron to cultivate.

“What do we mean?” one of the three sneered. “Brat, stop playing dumb. Hand over your Trial Jade Token. If you do, maybe we’ll spare your life!”

“You want my jade token? Are you from the Netherworld Palace?” Lu Qing asked.

By now, he had sensed that more cultivators lurked hidden throughout the forest below, spread out as if wary of one another.

They made no move to intervene, merely watching the clash above.

Realization dawned. He recalled the old man’s earlier words—the Palace’s trials recognized only the token, not the person holding it.

The three froze briefly, exchanged looks, then the speaker nodded.

“Correct. We are the ones overseeing this trial. Hand over your token, and you may proceed inside.”

“Is that so?” Lu Qing’s voice remained flat. “But somehow, I don’t think the Netherworld Palace would employ weaklings like you.”

“You’re courting death!”

Rage flared in their eyes. Knowing now they’d been toyed with, the three brothers attacked together, unleashing their most prized techniques.

Their auras surged—two at the Seventh Transformation of the Golden Core, one at the Fifth Transformation. Their attacks linked through formations, amplifying their power greatly.

Even if their target had concealed his true cultivation, they were confident. Together, they could match even an Eighth or Ninth Transformation Golden Core cultivator.

This masked youth was not beyond their grasp.

They had lain in wait for some time, hoping to seize a token for their youngest brother. With three in hand, their chances of passing the trial would rise considerably.

But just as their combined might crashed forth, Lu Qing didn’t even attempt to dodge.

In the blink of an eye, countless sword qi manifested before him, weaving into a raging Sword Qi River that swept outward.

Where the river passed, everything was shredded. Blade lights, protective qi, even magical artifacts—all collapsed like paper before it.

The Sword Qi River tore through their combined assault without pause, surging on toward the three.

“Not good!”

“Form up! Block it!”

“How can he be this strong?!”

“Big Brother, I can’t hold on!”

“Spare us! Spare—!”

Their screams ended abruptly as the river devoured them. In moments, the three Golden Core cultivators were reduced to drifting blood mist. Only a few artifacts and storage tools remained.

With a thought, Lu Qing swept them all into his possession.

Only then did the hidden experts in the forest stir, their hearts shaken by what they had witnessed.

One thought rang through them all:

“This man’s sword dao divine ability is terrifying. He cannot be opposed!”

Those who dared attend the Netherworld Palace’s trial were all proud geniuses, some the favored heirs of great sects.

Yet even they were stunned by the ease with which this mysterious, masked man obliterated three Golden Core experts working in unison.

They silently resolved: once inside the Trial Grounds, none would risk making him an enemy.

Two Seventh Transformation Golden Cores, one Fifth Transformation, their powers joined by formation—yet all fell in a single stroke.

Surely, he must be at least at the Eighth Transformation’s perfection.

Whispers of speculation spread among them. Which sword sect’s core disciple was this masked figure?

Meanwhile, Lu Qing simply collected the spoils and descended to a secluded spot.

This time, no one dared bar his way.

“I had hoped to keep a low profile and first observe the trial’s nature,” he mused. “But so much for that.”

Daoist Wubao had said each trial differed, and until one entered, no one could know what awaited.

Lu Qing had intended to stay cautious and blend in. Fate had other plans.

“Still, this display should discourage others from troubling me further. That much is convenient.”

He scattered a few jade slips, forming a simple Concealment Formation to hide his aura and form.

He had already noted that the valley was shrouded in subtle spatial fluctuations, barring entry until the appointed time.

Clearly, everyone had to wait.

And so he waited with the rest.

More cultivators arrived in the following days, some clashing violently. From their conversations, Lu Qing gleaned new details:

Each branch of the Netherworld Palace issued only a limited number of tokens per trial.

Thus, even those strong enough to qualify were not guaranteed one.

As a result, many turned to robbery, seizing tokens from others before the trial began.

That explained the ambush he had faced—the three brothers had discovered only two tokens remained, leaving them short. Their greed had cost them their lives.

Lu Qing merely watched the later battles in silence. Those who came here were not innocent. Their deaths stirred no ripple in his heart.

At last, when the jade token’s appointed time neared, two cultivators appeared near his concealment.

They searched the area, growing anxious.

Finally, one called out: “Senior Ghost-Face! If you are nearby, please show yourself. We have urgent business to discuss!”

Looking for me?

Lu Qing dispelled the array and revealed himself. “What do you want with me?”

The two flinched, stunned that he had been beside them all along, completely unnoticed.

Recalling his earlier display of power, their faces filled with awe. Both bowed deeply.

“Senior Ghost-Face,” one said respectfully, “the three Golden Core cultivators you slew earlier… might you have spare Trial Jade Tokens left? If so, would you be willing to part with them?”

“You want tokens?” Lu Qing replied without hesitation. “Fine. Buy them with spirit stones.”

Their eyes lit up, relief flooding them. They hadn’t expected him to be so direct.

“How many spirit stones would satisfy you, Senior?” one asked carefully.

“That depends on your sincerity. Name your price.”

The two exchanged glances. At last, one said timidly, “We do not carry much. Would ten thousand spirit stones per token suffice?”

“Middle-grade stones?”

The man gave a bitter smile. “Of course not, Senior. They are only low-grade stones.”

“That will do.”

With a wave, Lu Qing tossed them two jade tokens.

Overjoyed, they caught them and hastily offered up their spirit stones.

Lu Qing accepted with satisfaction. An unexpected profit always sweetened the day.

Just as he stowed the stones away, the valley ahead rippled with a strange fluctuation.

The time inscribed in the jade tokens had come.
