Chapter 26
At the same time as Danny's battle with the Car Ghost in Amity Park, Gotham was undergoing a seismic shift that would change the city forever.
The Joker had struck again, his latest act of terror as devastating as ever. This time, he had contaminated Gotham's water supply with his infamous Joker venom. The chemical turned the city's residents into frenzied maniacs, their humanity stripped away in favor of unbridled chaos. Streets burned as innocent citizens became violent predators, and Gotham descended into a nightmare.
Batman and his allies worked tirelessly to distribute the antidote. Despite their efforts, the venom's effects had already claimed thousands of lives before the cure could be administered. The Caped Crusader saved what he could of the city, but even his grim resolve couldn't undo the damage already done.
High atop an abandoned warehouse in the Narrows, the Joker stood surveying his masterpiece. His wild laughter echoed across the night as he reveled in the destruction below.
"Ah, my dear Gotham!" he exclaimed, spinning theatrically. "Such glorious madness! They'll be singing songs about me for decades!"
Below, Gotham's police force had finally rallied, storming the warehouse where the Joker's goons had dug in. Gunfire echoed through the night as the officers engaged in a fierce firefight with the criminals. The Joker, unconcerned, danced atop the rooftop, conducting the chaos like a maestro.
But then, it happened.
A single, deafening gunshot shattered the night. The Joker froze mid-spin, his face frozen in a grotesque grin as a red mist sprayed from his head. His lifeless body crumpled to the rooftop, his twisted reign ending with a sickening thud.
The Police Take a Stand
The shot had come from one of Gotham's officers, perched in a sniper's nest a block away. The chaos paused as the Joker's death reverberated through the battlefield. His goons, emboldened by their leader's mania, faltered, their resolve breaking in an instant.
"Move in!" an officer shouted, and the police surged forward.
