It used to confuse him because he was not sure what Amelia thought about him. He is just a commoner whereas she is the daughter of the prime minister, a noble daughter.
But, yesterday, his friend Louis suggested he clear this confusion.
He even advised him to kiss her.
And, Daniel did the same. However, he was not brave enough to kiss her on her lips. So, he just kissed her on her cheeks, and said,
’I admire you and respect you. You are way more accomplished and socially higher than me. But, Amelia, I don’t know why I started liking you too much. It could be because I am interested in you, fascinated by you and I do really like everything you talk, you do..’
’I don’t know if this is love or just an advanced level of my admiration, but I do really want to know what exactly it is. So, will you give me this honour to know you more and spend more time with you?’
It is what he said to her. However, Amelia was too emotional to even talk.

"Brina, he likes me but he isn’t sure yet. So, I didn’t confess my real feelings towards him. I want him to solve that dilemma and come to a firm conclusion. Till then, I will not reveal my feelings. So, I said yes to spend some more time with him. Did I do right?" Amelia asked.
Brina smiled. So, Louis cooperated with her in playing matchmaker.
