Chapter 55 – Assassin’s Approach
Most people woke up to sunrise.
I woke up to assassins.
Dawn barely cracked over the throne room windows. Glyphlight flickered overhead, lazy and dim. The MILFs were still asleep in their chambers after another night of fittings, aura syncs, and whispered threats of bridal chain punishments.
I sat slouched on my throne, half-awake, flicking through Sovereign Thread quest nodes.

A flicker in the system caught my eye.

My aura rippled out in a lazy sweep, brushing shadows. South entrance. Movement. Fast, low, smooth. Divine stealth glyphs flickered along black stealthweave. A voidblade reversed along a slender forearm, gliding between pillars without a sound.

Just one. Liquid shadow. Aura compressed to nothing. For any normal king, death would’ve been instant. Silent. Clean.
But I wasn’t a normal king.
The assassin lunged, voidblade curving up for my heart in a silent, perfect stroke.
