"I knew I wasn’t hearing wrong," Gabriel said loudly, attracting the attention of the two below.
"You..." the girl narrowed her eyes.
"So we ran into each other again, and this time you’re alone. Truly, the world is a small place," the male smiled.
These two were none other than Vera and Darius.
They were known as the infamous psychopathic couple, notorious for killing players. Gabriel remembered their faces very well—after all, he had nearly become one of their victims.
Vera’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as her hand twitched toward the dagger strapped to her waist.
Gabriel noticed this but remained standing with a blank look in his eyes.
"You could’ve slipped away unnoticed, but no—you had to be arrogant." Darius laughed boisterously as he summoned his sword.
Above, their party member frowned and glanced down but wasn’t able to see anything because of the tree branches obstructing his view. He shook his head and continued climbing.
Meanwhile below, Darius pointed his sword at Gabriel. "Last time you got lucky. Did that get into your head? Is that why you made your presence known?"
Gabriel didn’t respond to Darius. Instead, he moved his gaze upward. He couldn’t see anyone there but heard faint movement.
"So he’s your next target." Gabriel shook his head in pity.
