A Luna for Alpha Kieran

Chapter 47: Churn

Autumn hadn’t even waited a full second after the door clicked shut behind Kieran.

She tossed the sheets back like they were on fire and flung her legs over the edge of the bed.

Big mistake.

The second her bare feet hit the floor, her knees buckled. Vision blurred, room tilting like a drunk carousel.

She let out a quiet curse and nearly face planted...until Mango’s arms caught her.

"Now, where do you think you are going?" Mango asked, half amused, half exasperated, as she steadied her.

"Getting out of here, of course..." Autumn muttered, trying to sound nonchalant as she gripped Mango’s sleeve for support. Her heart thudded too fast, and tiny white spots danced at the edges of her vision. "I am done...I need to get out."

"Out of where, exactly?" Mango guided her back towards the chair, dragging it forward and lowering her into it. "Sit your ass down before you hit the floor again and I have to stitch you back up."

Autumn sighed as she sagged into the chair, her fingers curling weakly around the armrest. "Out of this goddamn pack..." she muttered with a tired edge to her voice. "This land. For good." A pause. " But after I meet my sister, of course."

The sass in her tone faded mid sentence. Her voice grew smaller. "I really never thought I would ever get to see her again in this lifetime..."

She paused. Her fingers rubbed the edge of her sleeve.
