Chapter 614: I like you
He felt a soft bump against his arm and realized where he was holding her. He retracted his hands as though he had been scalded and took a step back to put some distance between them.
She turned around to face him. "What did you say?"
His heart raced but since he had already said it, he might as well go through with it. "I like you, Yue. It took me ages and a few kicks to realize this but I have always liked you. I... I don’t want to be selfish and hold you back from going to the blind date if you really want to go, but I just wanted to let you know."
He wanted to punch himself after saying that. He didn’t just like her. He loved her, and that was probably why it took so long for him to recognize that he didn’t just feel that way because their families were close. However, how could he say that to her when she was dressed like that and his raging hard-on was pressed against her backside merely seconds ago? He didn’t want her to think he was mistaking a moment of lust for love.
When she looked at him, he felt as though his death was near. She didn’t look happy about his confession. Was she going to say the words he thought she would say, which would ruin their relationship with no point of return?
When she finally spoke, she asked, "Is that why you brought another girl and introduced her to my parents? Because you like me?"
He swallowed. He had the urge to make something up but he knew he was more likely to lose her that way. So he took a deep breath and explained, "I did it to make you jealous. It was Mumu’s idea."
She laughed at his feeble attempt to defend himself.
"That does sound like something Mumu would do. But again, you have a brain of your own, don’t you?"
He looked like he was on the verge of giving up on his life, so she laughed and closed in, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Fine, I’ll admit it. I know Tianxin is not your girlfriend."
"You do?" He was puzzled.
